This is a fantastic ultralight bivy! Had mine for about a decade now, and still going strong. You won’t want to yank or be rough with the zippers, but other than that no issues at all. Minimal condensation at the footbox of your bag, but nothing that has ever noticeably affected the warmth of my down bags or taken more than 5-10 minutes to dry at the start of the day. I “painted” dots of seam sealer all over the floor to add some grippiness for my sleeping pad, and the result is no slipping around during the night and waking up with your bivy and bag/quilt twisted in spirals around you. When you combine weight, durability and price this bivy is hard to beat without spending a LOT more.

Nearly a decade has passed since I began using this bivy (standard size). Three things stand out. First is the fit. Some bivys are too tight and compress the loft of your sleeping bag. Some are too large and flap around in the wind making a racket. The Equinox bivy is sized just right. I’m six one and use only long-sized sleeping bags and a thick air mattress, but I’ve never felt crowded. Second, it breathes. Not all bivys do, or do well, even Gortex bivys (I’ve tried). Finally it’s light and packs small, easy to carry uphill. On the down side, it’s slippery. You need perfectly flat ground to avoid sliding around. Stake loops at the foot and shoulder would be helpful. This is a bag cover, great for extending the range of a sleeping bag and keeping it clean, and for protection from a passing squall or descending cloud deck. Seams need to be sealed for heavy weather. Among my bivy collection—from Mountain Hardwear, MSR, RAB, and others—this is the most used. The name isn’t helpful; I’d call it the “Sleep-Tight” (a little play on words).
